Apple lyrics...

Pink apple 20 August 2009
The apple is not only the most eaten fruit in France and in the world!
It also is the main character of a poem from Jacques Prévert’s collection Paroles.
“Round, charming, attractive, the beautiful one always plays hard to get... the poor painter who tries to draw her falls into his own trap. But the mischievous apple, taking great pride in its legends finally succumbs to the pleasurable bite!” http://www.litterales.com

A movie star !

Pink apple 5 July 2009
Red apples have always been featured in great stories full of feeling. Already, in the fairy tales of the brothers Grimm, a red apple symbolises the loss of Snow White.
Temptation, seduction, bewitchment...the apple hypnotises and takes over its victim’s soul. Disney illustrated this notion with brio... The narrative figure was even so effective that Disney used it again in Enchanted ! Apples are often used in motion pictures. For example, in Pirates of the Caribbean , the evil Barbossa offers a red apple to Elizabeth...temptation, once more!

This is not an apple!

Pink apple 20 January 2009
A little less known than its distant relative “This is not a pipe”, Magritte’s painting takes up the problem.
Created in 1964, "This is not an apple" makes us wonder about the representational value of image and its necessary distance from reality. It is also interesting to note the inception of Pink Lady®, which constantly reminds us that... "It’s so much more than an apple!" http://eu.art.com

Ode to apples...

Pink apple 5 January 2009
To all lovers of Pink Lady® apples, don’t miss out on this Ode to Apples, penned by Pablo Neruda.
In his Third Book of Odes, the Latin American author pays homage to the world’s oldest fruit, incorporating its most potent symbolism. The last verses of the poem are very revealing: I want to see all the populations of the world united, reunited, in the simplest action on earth: biting into an apple. www.poemas-del-alma.com

The famous fashion house, Hermès, has developed a passion for red apples, and designed the “apple bag” to protect the beautiful forbidden fruit. Well wrapped in this rigid case slung over the shoulder, the apple can be eaten anytime, anywhere, thanks to the pocket knife hidden in the strap! Now you can proclaim your love for apples with a fashion accessory, and take a bite out of life! The site’s presentation of the bag puts it like this: I know a woman Who loves men Who loves apples. She’s a good friend of mine. http://lesailes.hermes.com http://www.a-d-o.fr/index.php

After the flavour comes the fragrance...

Pink apple 5 November 2008
Nina, the fragrance by Nina Ricci, is inspired by the story of a fairy seeking femininity. And where better to find it but in the sensual, seductive shape of a red apple - Nina Ricci’s marvellous perfume bottle! A real cousin of Pink Lady®, this apple of temptation also uses its curves for the noble cause of love... http://www.nina-parfum.com Another story, another fragrance... Pink Lady is at the heart of the new “duo” by Pierre Cardin. Pierre Cardin’s “Pour Homme” and “Pour Femme” are united by the Pink Lady apple: attraction, seduction, rapture and sweetness are orchestrated by the apple of love, which, this time, is included in the composition of both fragrances. http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com (...)

Desperate apples !

Pink apple 29 September 2008
The credits of the famous American TV series start and finish with a red apple... the one that made Eve give in! That’s right - what better symbol than the forbidden fruit to convey femininity ?
At the end of the sequence, each character is holding a red apple in her hand. Could this be a way of claiming the power of seduction ? In any case, a lot of people have already succumbed... http://www.artcyclopedia.com http://laboiteaimages.hautetfort.com

Story of the red Big Apple... !

Pink apple 15 August 2008
Everyone knows that New York is also nicknamed the Big Apple. As a fruit bearing the same name, Pink Lady® wished to trace the origin of this nice name.
The story is not very clear. It so appears that John FitzGerald in an article in the New York Morning Telegraph (1921) used the term “Big apple” in “public” for the very first time. The columnist borrowed the expression from stable boys in New Orleans. The New York race courses were so famous that working there was a rewarding experience which they compared to a big apple! Subsequently, jazz musicians used the expression “Big Apple” to refer to their city (and especially Harlem). Big Apple was also a jazz club in Harlem, and a dance that gained popularity in all of United States. It is said that jazzmen referred to a contract as an “apple”. When they were hired to play in New York, they said they bagged the big apple… Lastly, « Big Apple » won the hearts of the people thanks to an (...)
