Why vitamins are vital!
We need vitamins more than ever during the winter. They are vital for our body to function optimally. Here’s a look at why.
Vitamins A, B, C, D…they seem to go on to the end of the alphabet! But don’t despair, understanding vitamins is actually quite easy.
Our bodies require vitamins in very small quantities in order to function well; they protect and preserve our vital tissue, skin, hair and eyesight, they also protect our nervous system and muscles. With the exception of vitamin D, our bodies cannot produce vitamins, so we must find them in food (by biting into a Pink Lady® apple without peeling it, for example).
However, we mustn’t overdo it! Numerous studies warn against overdosing on vitamins in the form of tablets. As with all things, moderation is key and a balanced diet will provide sufficient nutrients for a healthy body.
Vitamin deficiency
Vitamin deficiency can weaken heath. Vitamin C, for example, is important for fighting off infections. It stimulates leucocytes (cells in the body that protect against external elements that attack our systems). It also improves the body’s ability to absorb iron (from vegetable sources) which also helps to fight off infection. Some vitamins, such as vitamin C and E, are anti-oxidants, and so are anti-ageing. So it is important to eat a healthy balanced diet.
Lifespan
Vitamins are fragile. Their main enemies are light, air and heat. To preserve the goodness of your fruit and vegetables, store them in a cool, dark place and eat them within 3 to 4 days. Try not to peel or cut them before and cook them quickly in shallow water.

Like the great overview about the vitamins. Indeed, vitamins are not only vital for winter and for proper functions of body metabolism, but it’s also an amazing natural regulator to boosting-up our immune system against the growing deadly disease also called as cancer. It’s a good habit if we start to taste any fruit in a day.
