It can be difficult to find the time -between work and family life- to do sport, and yet we all know that improving muscle tone is great for our health and figures.

So we have put together this list of short exercises that can be done anytime, anywhere!

1. Calves

Tone up your calf muscles at home by walking around on tiptoe. This is also great for your circulation.

2. Buttocks and thighs

➢ When you get to the office, take the stairs instead of the lift, making sure to raise your heel with each step. When you leave the office take the stairs again, this time making sure to firmly plant the heel into each step.

➢ Another idea is to walk to work, or to the supermarket two to three times per week. 30 minutes of brisk walking daily is advised to guard against obesity. If you take public transport, try to get off one stop before your destination and to walk the rest of the journey.

➢ Finally, contract your buttocks as you walk. Count to ten and then relax. Repeat this as often as you can..

3. Abdominal Muscles

➢ You can start working on your abdominals before you even get out of bed! Place your hands on your abdomen, shoulders level, and raise your torso part-way as you breathe in then lie back down. Repeat the movement and then do it again with your knees bent.

➢ When you’re sat (watching television, for example) sit up straight in your chair and contract your abdominal muscles for 8 seconds and then relax. Repeat until you can feel the area becoming slightly warm.

➢ Similarly, whenever you find yourself standing for any length of time, whether you’re waiting for someone or preparing dinner etc. contract your buttocks and abdominal muscles while breathing in slowly. Repeat this several times.
